Rural Electrification project of Hilful Fuzul
Energy is prerequisite for development.
There exists a constant energy crisis in our country. The grid power
supply is inconsistent and cannot meet the required demand.
Besides there are distal &
pocket areas where the greed supply has less chance to reach in the near
future. This Rural Electrification project of Hilful Fuzul promotes
the sell of
‘Solar Home System (SHS)’ where grid electricity has less chance
to connect in the near future.

Renewable Energy:
SHS uses the energy from sunlight which is an
unlimited source. Once a SHS is
installed it will produce energy form sunlight free off cost for at
least 20 years. On
the other hand the source of fossil fuels like petrol or gas or coal is
limited and it requires the involvement of recurrent cost.
SHS reduces the usage of kerosene and disposable batteries. A SHS
is an environment friendly reliable system to entrap solar power for
different uses. It provides the user with a convenient means of
supplying power for small electrical loads such as light, radio,
cassette player, computer or TV, charging of cell phones, and small
batteries, electronic tools etc.
Advantage of a
Solar Home System (SHS):
Advantage of a
SHS can easily be understood if we consider the increasing rate
of fuel (kerosene oil) or
the frequency of power failure that we experience now a days. It
also lack the negative consequences of environment.
A touch of Solar Home System (SHS) may change the
pattern of lifestyle of the remotest people as well as their finance.
Therefore SHS project is a stimulating issue for the
beneficiaries with respect to their household income and making their
business comfortable for their sustainable development.
There is a growing
need for power
supply for the socio-economic and cultural advancement of the
people live in remotest/distal areas.
Project Purpose:
The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy
Development project
of Hilful Fuzul intends to help the project beneficiaries to
increase their overall socio-economic development as well as their
quality of living of remote
HHs, who are not qualified
for grid electrification
services by REB & islands disconnected from the main land & isolated
pocket areas, by introducing
Solar Home Systems.
Funding

The project has started in 2006 by the technical &
financial support of ‘Infrastructure Development Company Ltd.–IDCOL.’

The SHSs are generally sold to the selected
customers in credit & with a down credit with a down payment
equivalent to 20% of
the retail cost. The size & duration of installments to refund
the credit depends on the volume of down payment offered by the
customer during installment. There is a provision of 5% discount
for cash sell. |

Solar powered system is very simple and the
technology is proven. A 40 W system can provide electricity for 4
efficient light bulbs /day for 4 hours plus a black white TV. A solar
SHS system comprises of
The
present investment for A 40W system
is Tk. 24550 with a 20% down payment (tk. 4910) during installation &
the remaining amount can be paid in 36 monthly installments of tk. 650
per month.
After this the owner can use it at least for 20 years
for free of costs. There is a 20 years guarantee for whole of the
system.
It gives better light and electricity than kerosene
and more reliable electricity than grid.
