    GE Wind Energy offers "Just 4 Kids & Teachers" curriculum, activities and worksheets.

  • Geothermal Education Office
    The Geothermal Education Office (GEO) produces and distributes educational materials about geothermal energy to schools, energy/environmental educators, libraries, industry, and the public. GEO collaborates frequently with education and energy organizations with common goals, and, through its website, responds to requests and questions from around the world.

  • International Ground Source Heat Pump Association
    The IGSHPA was established to advance geothermal/ground source heat pump technology on local, state, national, and international levels. They concentrate their site of promoting Ground Source technology and its benefits. They offer a large amount of fiscal and technical aspects of GS to help familiarize consumers with the technology.

  • Kids Zone - Department of Energy
    Energy can be understood through science, engineering, social systems, and education. It is the common thread that puts energy-related patterns of relationships into perspective. One goal of this site is to present various roadmaps to learning this concept - including one or more that match different learning styles.

  • Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Energy and Environment Division)
    This is an immense web site that contains detailed information on the research at the LBNL. The focus of the research is developing technology that uses, converts and stores energy more efficiently and with less environmental impact. They also study and offer reports on energy use and the environment.

  • Lighting Research Center
    The LRC is part of the School of Architecture at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute It was formed with the goal of changing architecture, through lighting that is energy efficient and responsive. Their web site is an objective source of manufacturer-specific performance information on efficient lighting products and other lighting efficient educational tools.

  • National Energy Foundation (U.K.)
    The National Energy Foundation is an independent educational charity. Its objective is to work for the more efficient, innovative, and safe use of energy and to increase the public awareness of energy in all its aspects.

  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
    NREL works toward a sustainable energy future by developing renewable energy technologies, improving energy efficiency, advancing related science, engineering and facilitating commercialization. Their large web site contains a detailed listing of NREL research that offers a spectrum of global marketing techniques and alternative fueling resources.

  • National Energy Education Development Project (NEED)
    The NEED Project is a nonprofit education association dedicated to developing and distributing comprehensive, hands-on energy education programs to schools nationwide. Students are presented with objective scientific explanations of the role of energy in society. Curriculum materials and activities are designed to promote an understanding of the economic and environmental trade-offs of energy, so that students and teachers are able to make educated decisions in the future.

  • The Office of Biorenewable Programs (ISU)
    The Iowa State Univesity Bioeconomy Initiative develops cross-disciplinary research, education, and extension programs that promote the greater and more efficient use of biorenewable resources, and more generally, support the emergence of Iowa and Iowa State University (ISU) as leaders in the new bioeconomy.

  • The Science Station
    A Cedar Rapids based museum that makes science and learning fun for people of all ages. This is done through an innovative approach to science learning based on hands-on interaction. There are over 130 hands-on exhibits and many educational programs to serve visitors to the museum and the web site. The museum has over 7500 square feet of exhibits on three floors and a new IMAX theatre facility.

  • Solar Energy International
    SEI's Renewable Energy Education Program teaches the practical use of solar, wind and waterpower. Their workshops teach the skills to design, install and maintain renewable energy systems and to build state-of-the-art solar homes that are efficient, and earth friendly.

  • U.S. Department of Energy
    The government agency's site is the most complete and accurate source for energy information on the web. Found here are studies and reports on the full spectrum of sources. This federal site is a very good starting point for any energy related search. They also offer a section devoted entirely to educating children on multiple aspects of energy efficiency and use.

  • U.S. DOE - Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network
    Offering even greater detail on renewable energy, EREN provides 600 links and 80,000 documents on bioenergy, hydrogen, ocean, wind, geothermal, hydro and solar power. They too have a section devoted entirely to encouraging and education children's involvement with energy efficiency.

  • Federal Energy Management Program
    The FEMP initiated The You Have the Power Campaign, which helps agencies reach their energy-saving goals by raising awareness of energy efficiency activities at Federal agencies. This web site spotlights the energy saving work of agency personnel and provides material for energy awareness campaigns.

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Programs
    Though they concern themselves with every aspect of energy use, this federal web site offers a large amount of information on energy for around your home or business. Since the EPA is a regulatory agency there are also a large amount of information given on for energy standards and laws. The web site also has a children's section that encourages kids to explore their environment and learn about the neat things they can do to protect it. There are games, pictures, stories, and other fun things offered.

  • The Vital Signs Project
    The Vital Signs Project aims to incorporate matters of building physical performance into the education of architects. The goal is to raise a fundamental awareness about the ways in which design decisions affect a building's physical performance--from energy use, to indoor environmental quality, to occupant well-being.

  • World Energy Efficiency Association
    The World Energy Efficiency Association was founded as a private, non-profit organization composed of developed and developing country institutions charged with increasing energy efficiency. Their web site offers energy efficiency reports broken down by specific international regions and other conference reports.

If you would like to order a class-set of the Infobooks for use in the classroom, please consult the NEED 2008-2009 Catalog.
