Save Energy…Use Energy Saving Lamp
Introduction
Electricity
crisis is a common phenomenon in our country. It’s a regular
sufferings for the people of different locations of the
country.
The government has assured the general public about their
efforts to ease the crisis. But that requires large amount
of money and time for a total and complete implementation.
In the mean time, there are a lot of initiatives exist that
general population themselves can undertake to ease the
electricity load. In this process, to some extend, the
electricity crisis will be solved eventually.
The first step would be and awareness among people to stop
all wastage of electricity and drive towards some savings.
Hereby, using CFL(Energy saving lamp) is nothing but a
consequence of this national effort.
Electricity Consumption
What is CFL?
-
CFL is a compact form of florescent lamp ensures 80% of energy saving compare to equivalent light output of conventional incandescent lamp.
-
CFL is a kind of Energy Efficient Lamp which gives us required lumen by consuming fewer watts.

• A compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), also known as a compact fluorescent light is a type of fluorescent lamp is designed to replace an incandescent and can fit in the existing light fixture formerly used for incandescent.
• A compact fluorescent lamp used outside an office complex.

Energy Consumption

• The chart shows the energy usage for different types of light bulbs operating at different light outputs. Points lower on the graph correspond to lower energy use.

Features of CFL
80% ENERGY COST SAVING:
CFL consumes about one fifth energy comparing with incandescent bulbs but same as bright. Substantially reducing energy expenses for lighting up to 80%.
A dollar you save is same to a dollar you earn.

Features of CFL
LONG LASTING 10,000 HOURS:
CFL bulbs lasts 10 times longer 10,000 hours comparing with
incandescent bulb for an average of 1000 hours. It features
improved efficiency and drastically reduces the troublesome
task of bulb replacements

COMPACT SIZE & LIGHT WEIGHT :
Comparing as old Radio with today’s transistor Radio. Thanks
to our advanced technology ballast featuring a small choke coil,
power transistor and capacitors makes our bulbs very compact
in size and lightweight.

• Can normally work within a voltage range of 150V-250V or even lower than that.
• CFL keeps lumen output almost same with lumen variation

National Saving
Lumen Variation Against Voltage Fluctuation
4000 MW National Consumption >>30% of 4000 MW = 1200 MW
Lighting Consumption >> 1200 MW Lighting

240 MW >> Power Plant costs 1260 Crore TK
Or
240 MW >> 1 Crore CFL = 250 Crore TK
1000 Crore TK / year (Approx.)
National Saving
National Savings:
Total Power Consumption : 4000 MW
Power Requirement for Lighting Purpose (30%) : 1200 MW
Energy saving possibility through Using CFL (80%) : 960 MW
Energy saving in 1 year time frame : 240 MW
(Considering 25% coverage of the total energy saving per year)
Required number of energy saving Lamps (CFL) : 100,00,000 pcs (Approx.)
(to save 240 MW electricity)
Total cost for lamps required to save 240MW : BDT 250,00,00,000
Power Generation Cost per MW : BDT 5,25,00,000
Power consumption cost for 240 MW : BDT 12,60,00,00,000
Recommendation:
So, if we use CFL of BDT 250 Crore, no need to establish a power plant of BDT 1260 crore for lighting purpose.
Environment Friendly
Environmental Benefits:
Less energy consumption saves more energy generation. Each energy saving lamp (CFL) prevents production of 100kg of CO2. Energy saving lamp (CFL) uses less energy means less CO2 emissions, a relief of global worming and air pollution.
Environment Friendly
Environmental Benefit Calculation:
Current price for CO2 in international market : 10 USD or BDT 700
Prevention of CO2 emission through using 10000000 pcs of CFL : 10,00,000 MT
CO2 trade benefit (Total) : BDT 70,00,00,000
Per Lamp CO2 trading benefit : BDT 70
Ultimately
SAVE ENERGY = SAVE MONEY
